In mid-March your Executive Committee met to make some difficult decisions due to the outbreak of COVID-19. In accordance with the CDC, White House, Federal, State and local jurisdictions’ guidelines regarding public gatherings and quarantine recommendations-- particularly for “high risk” populations-- we decided to cancel all Women’s Club and SIG meetings and events through the end of the 2019-2020 active year ending May 31, 2020. This includes the March and April General Meetings, the Spring Dance on April 3rd and the Installation Luncheon on May 18th.
Forecasts are that things will get worse before they get better, so our actions are somewhat far reaching. Our priority is the health and welfare of you, our members. For those who had made reservations for one of these events, by now you have received an email or phone call confirming that your check has been shredded.
Many thanks go to Gloria Crosthwait, Parliamentarian, and this year’s Nominating Committee composed of Sue Block, Susan Bryce, Gwen Holcroft, Ann McCann and Janis Tonn, who have recommended the following Slate of Officers for 2020-2021:
President Nancy Bain
1st Vice President (speakers) Sheila Niles
2nd Vice President (SIGs) Sara Scarberry
Recording Secretary Diann Blevins
Corresponding Secretary Kay Threadgill
Treasurer Kim Nearburg
Congratulations to these fine women. Without leaders like them, Women’s Club wouldn’t be what it is today, probably the most unifying force in the City of Lakeway.
Since we won’t be meeting for the rest of the year, our elections will be held either online or by mail. I have convened an Election Committee of past presidents to develop a voting method, given that there is no precedence for this type of situation.
The ceremonial installation of the 2020-2021 officers will most likely be held at the September 2020 General Meeting. We will remain in touch with you via the Newsletter and the Website.
Please, everyone, follow the CDC guidelines and protect yourselves. We want every one of our members and their loved ones to elude this virus and return to the active social lives that are facilitated by Women’s Club and to which we are all accustomed.

Programs & Speakers
1st Vice President
Sadly, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we had to cancel our Speakers for March and April General Meetings.
Perhaps we can reschedule Kat Albert, Director of the Lake Travis Film Festival, who would have discussed this year’s accomplishments and advances in the filming industry.
We can also inquire with April’s scheduled speaker for future availability-- Donna Overly, a local author, registered nurse and artist who used her life experiences to write a trilogy of books called the “Knot Series”.
Our hope is to return in September... Until then, take care.
Nancy Bain, 1st Vice President
Special Interest Groups
Our SIG gatherings are now in full swing! Continue to browse through this newsletter to read about scheduled activities both for general membership and SIG groups.
We have 23 SIGs which include 8 book clubs. If a group interests you, take the initial step and contact the Chairperson. You may also have ideas about starting/Chairing a new group. The Women’s Club is the ideal milieu for a SIG “start up!”

We are excited this year to be meeting at the Flintrock Falls Pavilion and look forward to exciting discussions and great food.
Our meetings start at 9:30 for socializing with coffee and friends.
The meeting starts at 10:00 AM and we encourage everyone to join us for lunch after the meeting. It's a great time to get to know new friends and share your experiences.
