2020-2021 WCGL Speakers Announced

Wednesday is my favorite day of the week! Why? Every Wednesday the Austin American-Statesman publishes the Food Section of the newspaper and Addie Broyles is my favorite writer.

She captures me with opening lines such as: Thanksgiving advice: don’t wait to shop!... Let your oven do the work; it’s all about sheet-pan dinners!...Falling in love with grocery shopping, all over again...Clafoutis has a savory side and it is delicious!... Curry-kissed scallops and desserts, desserts, desserts! For foodies, amateur chefs and like me, a wannabe, join us at the November 23rd General Meeting to hear from the best of the best... Addie Broyles.

A mom of two, Addie covers everything from cookbooks and food trends to farmers markets, food entrepreneurs and culinary culture in her weekly column called Relish Austin.

The Ozarks native and University of Missouri graduate also writes about women, parenting, and travel at TheFeministKitchen.com and is a co-founder of the Austin Food Blogger Alliance.

Addie won a National Headliner Award in 2012 and her Relish Austin blog has won honors from the Society of Features Journalism and the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors. Her freelance work has appeared in Dwell, The Guardian, Metropolis, Bust and Food Network Magazine.
